“At the heart of this community is a commitment to honest spirituality, fostering inclusivity, and cultivating transformative relationships.”
Who We Are
Our Purpose and Mission
At Robertson-Wesley, our community is rooted in honest spirituality, inclusivity, and building transformative connections. We believe that everyone is on a unique journey, and we offer a welcoming space for real growth, understanding, and meaningful relationships to flourish. No matter who you are or where you’re coming from, you belong here.
We commit to opening our hearts and our church family to all. We welcome everyone—regardless of sexual orientation, age, gender identity, differing abilities, ethnicity, or economic circumstance. Our community embraces the diversity that makes each of us special, and we seek to create a place where everyone can feel truly seen and heard.
We understand that many lives are still deeply affected by hatred, prejudice, and inequality. As a compassionate and caring spiritual community, we believe it is our duty to stand with those who face injustice, alienation, and oppression. We work together to advocate for fairness, inclusion, and love in all aspects of life, both within and beyond our church.
We invite you to join us in this journey of faith, connection, and service. Whether you're exploring spirituality, seeking a place of belonging, or looking to get involved in meaningful ways, Robertson-Wesley is here for you. Together, we can create a stronger, more inclusive community that reflects the love and justice we all deserve.
The United Church of Canada is a nationwide denomination formed in 1925 through the union of Methodist, Presbyterian, and Congregationalist Churches. It was during this time that Robertson Presbyterian Church became Robertson United Church, and Wesley Methodist Church became Wesley United Church. In 1971, these two churches came together to form what we now know as Robertson-Wesley United Church.
Our denomination’s national body, the General Council, is made up of elected representatives from across the country. Every three years, a new Moderator is elected to lead discussions and serve as the official spokesperson during their term, helping guide the church on key issues and initiatives.
For more information on The United Church of Canada, you can visit the national website at www.united-church.ca. It’s a valuable resource filled with information about the denomination's history, values, and ongoing work.
Regionally, we belong to the Northern Spirit Regional Council, where our elected representatives from Robertson-Wesley attend regional gatherings. Learn more about the work of the Northern Spirit Regional Council by visiting the website at www.united-church.ca/northern-spirit-regional-council.
Welcome to Robertson-Wesley!
You already belong here.
You’re welcome to participate in any of the community of faith’s activities, and we’re always excited when someone decides to deepen their connection by becoming a formal member. Here’s a quick look at what that process involves.
Start by sharing your name and phone number with us. You can use the yellow cards in the pews or reach out online. This allows us to add you to our pastoral care and mailing lists. You also have the option to sign up for our monthly e-newsletter to stay updated on all things happening at Robertson-Wesley.
We offer discipleship classes to help you explore faith and what it means to be part of a faith community. These classes usually take place twice a year and can range from weekly sessions both in person and/or virtually. Just speak with the lead minister to get started. You can also use the dropdown menu below to find more details on membership, including baptism, confirmation, or transferring your membership.
You don’t need to be a formal member to volunteer! If you’re ready to dive in and help, check out the Volunteer Opportunities page, explore sign-up sheets in Memorial Hall (where we gather for coffee after worship), or contact the church office. We’re excited to welcome you and can’t wait to share in the journey ahead!
