The Library is Open
A new learning series: “Spill The T: Readings from the 2SLGBTQIA+ Human Library” is coming to Robertson-Wesley this spring. In partnership with Kirk Centre, it will be held on the second Friday evenings in March, April and May (with potential for more). What is it? Each month a different subject matter expert will present on a given topic within the 2SLGBTQIA+ experience that they have intimate knowledge of. Afterwards there will be ample time for the audience to ask questions of the speaker on that subject, followed by table conversations over refreshments.
Maybe there are things you don't feel comfortable asking just a random person or loved one, or have an awkward or sensitive question? All are encouraged. This will be a safe place for genuine curiosity and learning (not for put downs or debates!). You do not need to identify as a queer person, or even know anyone who identifies as 2SLGBTQIA, to want to improve your allyship and awareness of the community. This is family friendly and all ages are welcome to participate.
Youth Group and SoulOuting (or affirming related) folk are especially encouraged to fill out the form here to help determine what topics the community are interested in.
Any further questions or concerns, email Peter p.graham@rwuc.org
Art Supply Swap
Just like a clothing swap the entire event is part of the giving economy - no money involved. Bring art supplies from home that are no longer being used. Offered items will be added to others’ and any art studio clear outs. All will be organized onto tables and then made available on Sunday, March 15 after worship for anyone to come browse. Rehome whatever amount of supplies you wish to. Anyone can participate swap in whatever capacity, you do not have to be an art studio participant.
Offerings can be dropped of to the art studio during the week of March 9, up to 10:30 am on March 15. Bring as much as you want, take what you will use and are excited about. Brought nothing? no problem, take stuff home! Don’t want to add more to your supplies? Just donating is great, too. Come and join us on Sunday, March 15, 11:30 am - 2:00 pm in Lower Hall.
Acceptable items: Clean, *useable*, art supplies in good condition, grocery bags
Items not accepted: oil paints and related (no chemical), recycling (pill bottles, jars, trays etc.), paper products (plates, cardboard etc.), scraps of anything, nearly empty, broken or dried up materials.
*If you can’t use it, neither can the studio*
Maundy Thursday Service
We gather around the table for Maundy Thursday, remembering Jesus' final night with the disciples. Together we will share Communion and hear the story of the Last Supper, and participate in the ancient practice of hand washing - a simple act that reminds us of humility, service, and love. Come experience this quiet and meaningful moment in the journey of Holy Week.
