At Robertson-Wesley United Church, we offer a variety of spaces to host your community events, meetings, receptions, and more. Whether you're planning a public event, board or condo meeting, or a celebratory gathering, the church facilities can accommodate your needs. Please note that your booking is only confirmed once you receive a reply from the office.

Accessible and Versatile Spaces

This community of faith is designed to be inclusive and accessible to all. There is an elevator that provides access to all three levels of the church, and our washrooms are equipped for handicap accessibility. From large gatherings to small meetings, the spaces offer a range of seating capacities. The Sanctuary can seat up to 650 people, while the Chapel provides an intimate setting for up to 40 attendees. Memorial Hall accommodates up to 180 for dining events and 200 for non-fixed seating arrangements. We also have smaller rooms like Room 11, which holds 30 people, and the Club Room, perfect for groups of 10.

Technical and AV Support

We understand the importance of technology in today’s events, and several of our rooms are equipped to meet your AV needs. Room 11 features a 70-inch TV, while the Club Room has a 50-inch TV. Memorial Hall is equipped with a sound system, cable microphone, and a 50-inch TV. If you require additional equipment or specific technical setups, please contact our office for assistance.

Event Set-Up and Assistance

To ensure your event runs smoothly, our team will handle the set-up and take-down of your space, as long as the necessary information is provided to the office 48 hours in advance. Simply fill out a booking form to specify your needs. During your event, one of our Event Assistants will be available to help with logistics and any other reasonable requests. Whether you come from a religious or non-religious background, or identify with any gender identity, we welcome you to publicly affirm your relationship here. We're here to support you as you prepare not only for your wedding but for the journey of marriage that follows.

Personalize Your Wedding Ceremony

Your wedding day should reflect who you are as a couple. Our minister will work with you to craft a ceremony that combines traditional elements with personal touches that matter most to you. You’ll receive a wedding planning guide to help choose meaningful prayers, vows, and readings. You’re welcome to incorporate unique elements like special music, poetry, or involve loved ones in the ceremony.

Music and Photography

Music plays a special role in every wedding, and the Director of Music will help you select the perfect pieces. While recorded music is not permitted, we offer a variety of live musical options, including organ, piano, and even additional musicians like soloists or string ensembles. Professional musicians are highly recommended to ensure your ceremony is both beautiful and seamless.

As for photography, we kindly ask guests to refrain from taking photos during the ceremony to allow everyone to be fully present. However, your official photographer and videographer are welcome to capture the moment, and you can arrange for posed photos in the sanctuary afterward.

Facilities and Booking

The facilities are accessible and welcoming for all guests. The sanctuary is wheelchair accessible, and we have hearing assistance equipment available. Access to the church begins 30 minutes before the ceremony, and parking space is reserved for your wedding car. If you’re ready to book, contact our Office Administrator to check availability. Weddings can be booked up to one year in advance, and your date is confirmed once the booking form and deposit are submitted. Marriage preparation is also required, and we can recommend local programs to guide you on this journey.

Funerals & Memorial Services: A Moment to Remember

At Robertson-Wesley United Church, we offer our facilities, Minister, and Music Director to the community for Funerals or Memorial Services. In times of loss, we are committed to providing compassionate care to those grieving. Often referred to as a "Celebration of Life," these services honor the assurance of eternal life through Christ, offering comfort and hope as we say goodbye to loved ones.

If you prefer, services can be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person. Simply visit our YouTube channel a few minutes before the service to access the livestream. If you arrive early, it will direct you to our main page until the service begins.

In Your Time of Grief

The death of a loved one is a deeply challenging time, and we extend our heartfelt condolences along with a promise of prayerful support. The minister is available to meet with you and your family to offer comfort and help arrange a meaningful funeral or memorial service. Whether your spiritual path aligns with Christianity or another tradition, we are here to walk alongside you in this time of grief and thanksgiving.

A funeral service typically occurs within a few days of death, with the body present and a committal at the cemetery. Memorial services, held at any time, do not involve the body and may follow cremation or burial. Both types of services provide a space for family and friends to honor the life of the deceased while celebrating their legacy.

Memorial Garden

For those cremated and connected to our church, ashes may be placed in the peaceful Memorial Garden. This area is situated near the southwest entrance and chapel wall on the lawn. Families can choose to have a small engraved plate in the chapel, with the deceased’s name and birth/death years displayed on a memorial plaque. If desired, their life story may also be added to the Memorial Book. A formal agreement is signed by families who opt for this sacred resting place.

The Service

Funeral and memorial services at Robertson-Wesley reflect our belief in eternal life while celebrating the unique life of the person who has passed. These services not only provide an opportunity to say goodbye but also offer comfort through the stories of God’s love and the individual’s personal journey. Our sanctuary, which accommodates up to 650 people, is available for larger gatherings, while the smaller chapel is perfect for more intimate services of fewer than 40 attendees. We offer an all-inclusive fee for our services, including music and minister honorariums, and additional services such as soloists or receptions can be arranged as needed.
