Flower Ministry Coordinator
Support the church’s ministry and help honour loved ones through seasonal flower sales that bring beauty, remembrance, and meaning to our community.
What you’ll do:
Coordinate seasonal flower sales, orders, and distribution
Promote the flower sales within the congregation and community
Recruit and organize volunteers to help with the different tasks needed to make each sale successful
Find people to help with promotion, order collection, flower distribution, watering and care, and deliveries
Coordinate volunteers and make sure everyone knows their role and responsibilities
Arrange deliveries for those who are unable to pick up their flowers
Help oversee the process from ordering to final distribution

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys organizing, connecting people, and bringing a team together to support a meaningful ministry in our church community.
Online Auction Business Outreach
We are looking for volunteers to contact local businesses to ask if they would like to contribute to our online auction. Contributions may include vouchers, certificates, or items. Volunteers will be provided with a list of businesses along with contact information, and will contact businesses via phone or email.
Food Bank Assistants
On Wednesdays around 12 pm one will find a flurry of activity in Memorial Hall. This is the cohort of Food Bank Depot volunteers making magic pantry sandwiches, setting up tables and unloading food off the main Food bank's big truck. All before the clients arrive to take home their hampers.
The volunteer crew is looking specifically for more help in lifting the heavy hamper boxes off the truck and into the hall and onto tables. If you are available between 12 and 1pm on Wednesdays and feel confident in lifting 15-25 lbs of boxed groceries, stop by! reach out to Derek Sutherland or Jack Waters for more information on volunteering with the Food Bank . Ushers
SEEKING SUNDAY MORNING USHERS
We are seeking more people to help with Sunday Ushering. Ushers are the people who greet people at the door and hand out bulletins. Ushers help to direct people in the building, some ushers help with the elevator, and some take weekly attendance. Ushers need to arrive at 9:30 AM on a Sunday and then help to put things away after the service. We would like to have teams of 2 if possible. We are hoping to find people to help once a month. We need people for the 1st and 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month and on occasion we need people for the 5th Sunday of the month. If you are interested please sign up below. Farmers Market Volunteers R-W Booth
We are looking for people who enjoy sharing stories about who Robertson-Wesley is and how we serve the community. During the months of June - mid Oct, 102 Ave is closed off for the 124St Market which runs from 11 AM - 3 PM. Robertson-Wesley has a booth at the Market, we invite people to hear about what R-W does and offers the community. We also enjoy hearing from the community how they see R-W. We like to have 2 people at the booth, and we split it into 2 shifts. 11-1 and 1-3PM. At this moment we are looking for people who are interested in learning more. No commitment to volunteer required, but if you wish to sign up for any of the various shifts, please sign up!
Communion Server
Once a month, Robertson-Wesley United Church celebrates the sacrament of Holy Communion. At this time we are looking for people who would be interested in serving communion. Help serve communion during services. No experience? No problem! We’ll guide you through it. Full instructions for serving will be provided.
Event Coordination
Event Coordinators plan a variety of events that will bring the community together and facilitate connections. This team will plan community-building events to help people connect and make friends, example: a movie night, the R-W Christmas Party, etc.
Between The Aisles Editors
Between the Aisles is our quarterly newsletter for all things Robertson-Wesley related. Editors for Between the Aisles will edit submitted articles, poems and announcements submitted by people of the community of faith to ensure the newsletter is clean and well-composed for the readers.
DEAP - Discernment, Envisioning, and Policy
DEAP is a group of people who meet monthly to discern together where the Spirit is at work in our faith community. The role of this group is to listen, and observe where there is passion in our midst as well as noticing where there are challenges. DEAP then reflects back to the congregation what they are hearing and noticing. Through this process of discernment the community of faith is able to engage in long range visioning and planning.
Worship Committee Volunteers
The Worship Committee supports the minister and music director in ensuring that worship fits with the ethos of the United Church, as it inspires and nurtures the people of this faith community. This committee looks after ushering, scripture readers, communion servers, and the worship environment (paraments / candles etc), life passages and membership. The Worship Committee also reflects on common practices and makes decisions on when things need to be shifted or changed.
Kids Church Team
The Kids Church Team will help the children learn about Jesus, and God, through a variety of learning styles. This program happens on Sunday morning after a short time in worship. Curriculum is provided for the team and will work with children and toddlers ages 0-12.
Youth Leader Volunteers
Youth Leaders will work with youth Grades 7-12, supporting them and encouraging them to be present. There are two opportunities for Youth Leaders:
On Sunday mornings, Youth Leaders will explore faith and the bible with youth during the later part of the worship service.
On Friday nights, leaders will participate in various activities with youth, spending some time generally hanging out and connecting with them.
Worship Planning Team
The Worship Planning Team creates worshipful experiences several times during the year. If you are interested in storytelling, writing prayer, drama, art, poetry, or liturgical dance music, then this is a team for you.
