ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP ACTIVITIES

The Mission and Outreach Pod continues to explore Environmental Stewardship as an area of ministry. We have discovered that our community has a great passion for “living with respect in Creation”!

The Pod has hosted a series of activities to prompt reflection on the deep connections between our faith and the environment, as well as to learn practical ways to care for Creation, the Activities include:

Group Walks: The Pod hosted a group walk practice, with the goal of reflecting on Creation together. Folks gathered after Worship on Sundays for a short walk around the Oliver neighborhood, while they contemplated different scripture selections about God and humankind honouring our earth.

Wild Church: Wild Church is a communal practice of learning to converse with nature in order to experience sacred transformation and restore connection with the web of life to which we already belong. This is an all-ages form of worship, and all are welcome. For more info click here.

Living with Birds: Lynn and Arnold Maki led a short walk and chat about local birds and the wisdom they share with us about life.

Hybrid Car Presentation and Demonstration: The Pod hosted this presentation and demonstration to answer questions about environmentally friendlier electric vehicles.

MAKING R-W A GREENER SPACE
Part of living out the Environmental Stewardship Groups call to care for our planet includes making the R-W building a more green space! Check out this Newo blog about how R-W is working to reduce our environmental impact, and connect with nature through worship. We are so grateful for the Faithful Footprints grant that has allowed us to do this work!
