United Church of Canada

our denomination

The United Church is a Canada-wide denomination, formed in 1925 by the union of Methodist, Presbyterian and Congregationalist Churches. At that time, Robertson Presbyterian Church became Robertson United Church and Wesley Methodist Church became Wesley United Church.

Our national body is the General Council, head-quartered in Toronto, and our Moderator, elected every three years, is the highest official position. The national office maintains a very extensive and informative website:

At the regional level, we belong to the Alberta and Northwest Conference, and at the local level, the Edmonton Presbytery. Each congregation is represented at Presbytery and Conference meetings, so one way to learn more is to talk to one of Robertson-Wesley's Presbytery Representatives.

Please see Our Network page on this website for other United Church related links.
