The Book of Psalms
Our Bible comprises two sections: the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament, being the scriptures of the Hebrew tradition form the basis and foundation for Jesus' ministry.
The third section of the Hebrew scriptures is an array of different writings that have emerged from many different sources and times. These reflect, in many different ways, the spirituality of life in covenant with Yahweh.
Through all the changes and turns of the history of Israel, what was the spiritual experience of the people? The Psalms contain the full range of experience from praise and celebration to longing and lament. The power of these writings for us is that these are all dimensions of our spiritual experience, even today.
