Themes

The Women' Weekend program and activities have been planned around a theme. We have had our Red Shoes weekend, our Sacred Garden weekend, our Let Your Light Shine weekend, our Entering Your Castle weekend, and in 2009 our Stepping Lightly: A pilgrimage to... weekend. The program includes discussions in both large and small groups, singing of new and familiar songs, walks with nature, creative activities, sharing meals, walking a labyrinth, celebrating in worship as a community of women, free time and lots of laughter. No doubt there are pleasures that I have missed, but just ask someone who has attended, and they will share their favourite parts of the Weekend.

Women’s Weekend 2009

The weekend of September 25 – 27 saw 14 Robertson-Wesley women become Pilgrims. The beautiful Autumn weather, the venue at Strawberry Creek Lodge, and the weekend journey of each woman, all contributed to an enriching weekend.
“I was encouraged to evaluate the place of work in my life, getting things done vs. living in the moment and being open to, and grateful for it.”
“I’ll have an ongoing challenge with regard to walking in a “relaxed manner” through Life, instead of racing just to feel accomplished; to listen to what God wants of me instead of what others expect, demand of me and myself.”
“I am so grateful to be able to come and share this weekend with such a special group of women; a caring group, a safe place, with abounding love, talent and stories.”
“I especially enjoyed the slow pace of the weekend – much was accomplished without a sense of hurry/rush.”
“I find the labyrinth walk very meaningful. There was an interesting rhythm to the walk today.

Women’s Weekend 2010

Mark your calendars. September 10-12, 2010, Strawberry Creek Lodge, is our next Women’s Weekend. In February there will be a call for women to participate on the Women’s Weekend Planning committee. Consider volunteering your talents, time and theme ideas for this our 7th annual weekend event.

Women’s Weekend Bursary Fund

As a result of discussions at the 2009 Women’s Weekend a Women’s Weekend Bursary Fund has been established to support Robertson-Wesley women who may require financial assistance to attend the annual weekend. If you would like to donate to this Fund contact Pat Stewart, Jill Lambie or the Church office.
