The Flower Group
80th Anniversary Garden Party

The Flower Group celebrated their 80th anniversary with an elegant
garden party and tea at the beautiful garden of Betty Jean and David
Buchanan. The weather was graciously cooperative, the turn-out was
well over 100, and some $6,200 was raised for the Flower Group's
anniversary project, the renovation of our staned-glass windows.

Flowers Every Week
The Flower Group has about 28 members. We are committed to placing
flower arrangements in the sanctuary each Sunday morning. Members
of the congregation can place flowers to be memorials for family
or friends or to mark special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries
and or other notable times.
Passing Them On
Afterwards the flowers can be claimed by the donors for their occasions
or specify that they be delivered to individuals of their choice.
Otherwise the group will see that they are part of Pastoral Care
and they will be delivered to private homes, nursing homes, or hospitals
to members of R.W. who are unable to attend services. Names are
suggested by the ministers and we encourage the congregation to
let the church office know of anyone who would benefit from such
a Pastoral Care visit.
Placing Flowers
The members of the Flower Group take turns on a monthly basis to
do these deliveries. These donations are noted in the church bulletin
each week. Members wishing to place flowers in the church can make
contact with the group by phoning the church office. Flowers are
ordered from Flowers by Merle and there are usually dates available.
Holidays
At Easter, lilies and hydrangeas are placed as memorials to decorate
the Sanctuary after orders are taken in the weeks prior to Palm
Sunday, and the flowers can be picked up after the service to be
part of the donors' Easter celebration. Thanksgiving and Remembrance
have decorations. During the Christmas season the Flower Group makes
the church especially festive with poinsettias, a Christmas tree,
lights and candles. The brass candlesticks are polished and candles
are set out for the Festival of Lessons and Carols and then again
for the Christmas Eve Services.
