Advent
2010 Nov 28, Dec 5, 12, 19 -- 10:30 am
The four Sundays preceeding Christmas are the season of Advent.
We consider this to be a time of longing, waiting, and preparation.
Service of Lessons and Carols
2010 Dec 12, 4:00 pm
This service is a classic tradition, with a series of nine scripture readings that take us through the whole story of God's promise, Israel's longing and waiting, and the fulfillment of promise in the birth of Christ.
The story is accompanied by a feast of choral music and carol singing.
Christmas Eve
In our liturgical tradition, Christmas Day begins with sunset on Dec. 24, so "Christmas Eve" means the first part of Christmas Day. We have three services on Christmas Eve: a very early service for families with younger children, a middle service for older children, youth and families; and a later service in the darkness of the Holy Night.
Christmas Eve Children's Service
4:00 pm
Exploring the Christmas story with young children -- this is a light, brief and fun service for the ones who need not to be up too late. We extend a special invitation to all families in the neighbourhood.
Christmas Eve Family Service
6:30 pm
Prepared each year by our youth, this service is geared toward
all ages as children and youth offer their own take on the meaning
of Christmas for us all.
Christmas Eve Choral Service
11:00 pm
Jesus was born in the middle of the night, hence we gather in the middle of the night to celebrate that holy birth. We experience Christmas through the rich array of choral music, scripture and reflections on the mysteries of the ancient story, and of course, singing the great timeless, classic carols. |
